Abstract

Interisland transportation is a service system that connects islands within a region. As an archipelagic country, Indonesia relies heavily on maritime transportation to drive its regional development, especially for remote areas accessible only by sea. This study aims to identify and analyze factors that influence the competitiveness of interisland maritime transportation in Lingga Regency. The research method uses a quantitative approach with data collection techniques through questionnaires to 477 respondents who use fast boat transportation in Tanjungpinang City, Batam City, and Lingga Regency. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS software. There are ten independent variables tested, namely price/tariff, service quality, time, operational policies, port infrastructure, user characteristics, environment, geography, macroeconomic conditions, and government policies. The results show that service quality and time are the most dominant factors in increasing competitiveness, followed by user characteristics, geography, and government policies. These findings emphasize the importance of operational management compared to physical infrastructure. The study recommends the need for policies that focus on improving service quality and efficiency in developing an effective and sustainable maritime transportation strategy in the Lingga Regency area.
